Robert Louis Stevenson
Foreign Lands
Up into the cherry tree
Who should climb but little me?
I held the trunk with both my hands
And looked abroad on foreign lands.
I saw the next door garden lie,
Adorned with flowers, before my eye,
And many pleasant places more
That I had never seen before.
If I could find a higher tree
Farther and farther I should see,
To where the grown-up river slips
Into the sea among the ships.
To where the roads on either hand
Lead onward into fairy land,
Where all the children dine at five,
And all the playthings come alive.

I like this poem because I think that it captured the idea of childhood. Children are supposed to climb trees and be imaginative and have fun and believe in magical things. The title of this poems is great because it is pretty accurate in that when you use your imagination you can travel to foreign lands. This is a childrens poem so the language is fairly simple, but one poetic device the author does use is imagery. The tone is cheerful and fun, it is from the perspective of a child outside playing.

Hoy es jueves!
This year I decided to mix it up a bit. I have taken french since 6th grade(and im still taking it), but i had an opening in my schedule and thought it would be fun to take a second second language. SPANISH! Yes, thats right. Im taking two languages. AP French V and Spanish I. I love it. Trenda is so great. Im the only senior in my class of all sophmores.
So far we have learned:
1. Greetings
2. Numbers
3. Map of spanish speaking countries
4. Weather terms
5. Classroom vocab
6. Days of the week
7. Alphabet
That's a lot of info in less than three weeks, but its so similar to french that it makes it a lot easier. So far spanish I has been way easier than french I was because i can guess what almost everything means. French and Spanish are basically the same language just with different accents. The hardest thing is that in spanish you pronounce every letter, where as in french there are lots of letters that are not pronounced in each word.
ps. the title means today is Thursday

Personal Narrative
So this is a portion of my narrative that needs a little work. Actually all of it needs some work but this part is way too wordy and doesn't flow well.
"We like to come here in the summer to play at the park and swim in the river. We were swimming in the river when all of a sudden I was taken by the current and pulled down the river. I flew over a small waterfall and was really scared."
Yeah...it sounds like it was written by a second grader. That is probably because it was written in a hurry late at night.

Discover
Hmm... what could i talk about every week? Well I could talk about a lot of different things.
1. Old Navy. My place of employment. Where i lived this summer. I have many great stories.
2. Hockey. During the hockey season nothing else really matters. I go to every game, and when its time for the state tournament... i go a little crazy.
3. School. They make me come here for 7 hours 5 days a week, not that its really exciting but i could write about it if i needed to.
4. Family. The fam is so important to me. Immediate family is small but my extended family is big and crazy and i love it.
